B Positive Plasma in Atlantic City, NJ is seeking a dedicated phlebotomist to work under supervision of the Center Manager and Physician Substitute. You will ensure donor suitability, maintain equipment, and perform phlebotomy while complying with FDA and SOP guidelines.

Responsibilities include setup and operation of donor qualification tools, inventory management, donor care, and reporting any safety concerns. Travel up to 25 miles may be required for training or support at other centers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; phlebotomy certification preferred.
• Experience or education in health-related field is helpful.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred.

Description

Job Summary:

Phlebotomists operate under the direct supervision of the Assistant Manager, and more generally under the Center Manager, and at times will take instruction from the Physician Substitute on site. All phlebotomists will ensure donor suitability, product integrity and the continued good health of donors through the compliance with Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, state regulations, and the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) Manual guidelines and any other applicable regulatory standards.

Duties To Include But Not Limited To

• Set up and operate instruments used for donor qualification and donation;
• Maintain instruments used for donor qualification and donation;
• Prepare site and perform phlebotomy;
• Document operational and maintenance activities;
• Assess supply inventory; order and restock, as needed;
• Attend to donor’s needs, including donor reactions;
• Promote customer satisfaction through appropriate interaction and responsiveness to customer needs;
• Report all unsafe situations or conditions to supervisor
• Available to travel up to 25 miles to other facility(ies) for training or assisting other center's staffing needs
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or the equivalent.
• Previous experience or education in a health-related field helpful.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred.

Required Skills/Abilities

Must be able to operate accurately the following equipment:

• Computer (basic skills includes typing, following prompts on monitor, using mouse, saving information etc.)
• Nexsys PCS

Physical Requirements

• Read computer screens, procedure manuals and other documents
• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Hear doorbells, alarms, telephone, and other mechanical devices
• Work confidently while being observed during frequent quality inspections
• Work in walk in - Subzero freezer(s)
• Ability to lift, pull, tug up to 50 pounds to stock supplies and/or move or support donors
• Regularly required to use hands and fingers, to handle & feel objects, tools and controls; reach with hands and arms.
• Vision abilities required by this job, including close vision
• Required to stand for extended intervals, walk, climb and balance; stoop, kneel and crouch.
• Physical ability to operate equipment used on donor floor areas that may require repetitive motion and manual dexterity.
• Ability to read while standing or sitting in front of a computer for short periods of time.Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) required such as eyewear, lab coats, and gloves
