Job summary

LifeSouth Community Blood Centers is seeking a Phlebotomist in Fleming Island, FL to join a mission-driven team. The role involves phlebotomy, donor registration, eligibility checks, and donor recruitment with an emphasis on exceptional customer service.

Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver's license, and flexibility to work a varied schedule including nights, weekends and holidays. CDL holders are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomies and collect blood from donors per SOP.
• Collect blood using automated instruments once trained.
• Register donors for collection in the LifeSouth system (IBBIS).
• Determine donor eligibility based on interview and physicals.
• Accurately identify donors throughout the donation process.
• Assist in recruitment, tele-recruitment and rescheduling.
• Convert donors to automated technology (apheresis) when appropriate.
• Provide the highest level of customer service to internal and external customers.

Must be able to work the following hours:

• Wednesday: 10am-6pm
• Thursday: 10am-6pm
• Friday: 10am-6pm
• Saturday: 10am-4pm
• Sunday: 10am-4pm

Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to)

• Perform phlebotomies and collect blood from donors according to LifeSouth Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)
• Collect blood using automated instruments (once trained)
• Register donors for blood collection in the LifeSouth computer system (IBBIS)
• Determine donor eligibility based on the results of the donor interview and physical process
• Accurately identify donors in every step of the donation process
• Assist in recruitment, tele-recruitment and rescheduling of donors
• Convert donors to automated technology (apheresis) when appropriate
• Provide the highest level of customer service to both internal and external customers

• Valid driver’s license. Must also meet and maintain LifeSouth driver’s eligibility requirements
• Proficient in a variety of computer software applications

LifeSouth is a non-profit community blood bank serving more than 150 hospitals in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee.
