Brief Statement of Duties

Brief Statement of Duties: The course load will be 12 credits per semester, with multiple preps each term. The teaching responsibilities will include various applied ethics courses (computer, legal, medical) as well as a course in social and political philosophy. There will also be additional service responsibilities in support of the department, college, and university. The appointment will require having an active research agenda. This is a campus-based position. This position is currently not available for sponsorship.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Education: Doctorate or equivalent terminal degree

Discipline/Degree Area: Philosophy

Required Specialized Training/Certifications: PhD in Philosophy awarded before August 15, 2027.

• AOS: Applied Ethics
• AOC: Social and Political Philosophy
• Graduate coursework evidencing AOS and AOC

Required Minimum Work Experience: Record of effective college teaching in Philosophy.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Attributes Required for Satisfactory Performance of the Position Duties:

Additional Desirable Qualifications

• M.A. in Philosophy
• Earned Ph.D. at time of application
• Record of excellent college teaching, specifically in AOS and AOC.
• Specific knowledge of legal ethics, computer (big data/social media/AI) ethics, biomedical
• ethics, and environmental ethics
• Experience teaching a range of applied ethics courses and courses in social and political philosophy.
