Job summary

The David and Lucile Packard Foundation seeks a Program Officer to lead the Philanthropy Fund and Special Opportunities Fund, coordinating grantmaking and cross-foundation information sharing. You will work with trustees, staff, grantees and partners to shape strategy and ensure effective grant lifecycle management.

The role requires at least 7 years in philanthropy, a Bachelor's degree (advanced degree preferred), and excellent communication and analytical abilities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in the philanthropic sector or related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and analytical skills necessary for managing complex grants.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategy and management for the Philanthropy Fund and Special Opportunities Funds.
  • Communicate with grant recipients, staff and partners in a transparent, timely manner.
  • Partner with grants officers, program staff, consultants and grantees to ensure effective grantmaking.
  • Manage grant proposal process and help shape proposals as needed.
  • Review and resolve legal, financial, and technical issues related to grants.
