Qualifications

• PhD candidate in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Ecology, Sustainability Science, Data Science, or related field.
• Understanding of life cycle assessment (LCA) principles and indicators.
• Experience cleaning, organizing, and harmonizing structured and unstructured data.
• Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Availability for a 12-week internship May–Aug 2027 onsite 4–5 days/week at Mason.

Responsibilities

• Identify and fill important life cycle inventory data gaps and document data quality and sources.
• Organize unstructured LCI data into standardized formats for scalable LCA workflows.
• Develop data cleaning, harmonization, versioning, and maintenance approaches.
• Test structured data in Beauty Care products for scalability.
• Suggest improvements for transferring data into LCA tools and future automation.
• Work with data covering formulation, materials, packaging, manufacturing, distribution, and use.
• Capture learnings to broaden use of the approach across Beauty Care and other units.
