Job summary

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks a highly skilled scientist/engineer to advance intelligent robotic systems from concept to reality. The role focuses on robotics control, embodied AI, multi-agent coordination, perception, and human-robot teaming.

You will develop and implement control algorithms, design robotic hardware, publish results, and mentor teams. A Ph.D. in Robotics, CS, Engineering, or Mathematics and willingness to obtain DoD clearance are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in a relevant field such as Robotics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Experience in robotics or AI applications for robotics, CS, mechanical/electrical engineering, or mathematics.
  • Eligibility for DoD Secret-level security clearance (U.S. citizenship).

Responsibilities

  • Define and develop novel robotic concepts, systems, and algorithmic solutions.
  • Develop and implement control algorithms and AI techniques; invent new approaches to robot control, reasoning, and perception.
  • Design, fabricate, and integrate robotics hardware; publish and present results to the scientific community and sponsors.
