Job summary

Stripe is offering PhD machine learning engineering internships for Summer 2027, focusing on foundation models used for fraud detection, support, and user behavior prediction. As an intern, you will develop and deploy ML systems, collaborate across teams, and learn rapidly in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

PhD in Computer Science, ML, or related field with expected graduation winter 2027 or spring/summer 2028.
Proven programming and ML experience via projects, coursework, or research.
Familiarity with Python, Scala, Spark and libraries Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn.
Expertise in supervised/unsupervised learning, ML ops; Experience with LLMs or RL is a plus.
Proven ability to work on collaborative projects and incorporate feedback.
Proactive in learning unfamiliar systems and working independently.
Intent to return to degree program after internship.

Responsibilities

Develop and deploy large-scale machine learning systems across domains.
Design, train, improve, and deploy ML models end-to-end.
Write production-scale ML models enabling economic infrastructure access for global businesses.
Collaborate with multiple teams to incorporate feedback and find solutions.
Rapidly learn new technologies and clearly communicate progress.
