Job summary

ByteDance's Seed team in San Jose is seeking a Student Researcher for a Seed Model - Seed Responsible AI internship starting in 2027. You will work with the Seed-Responsible AI group to research safe, reliable AI foundations and contribute to products involving AI safety and ethics.

Ideal candidates are PhD students in CS/Engineering with strong research in LLMs, reinforcement learning, or AI safety, and proficient in C/C++ or Python. Applicants should include start and end dates in their resume.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong research background in LL M training, LLM interpretability, LLM agents, reinforcement learning, or LLM/AI agent safety.
• Excellent coding ability in C/C++ or Python; ICPC/IOI/TopCoder achievements preferred.
• Experience with ML/NLP/LLM research is a plus.
• Excellent problem analysis and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Developing advanced technologies in AI, particularly AI foundation models and AI agents.
• Conducting research on AI technologies to improve reliability, safety, and trustworthiness.
• Contributing to product development related to AI safety and AI ethics.
