The University of Georgia invites applications for a PhD Graduate Research Assistantship in Precision Agriculture and Remote Sensing. The selected candidate will join the Lacerda Research Group within UGA’s IPA team, applying satellite and UAV imagery, thermal data, geostatistics, and data analysis to advance precision agriculture research.

Prefer candidates with a Master’s degree or equivalent and experience in remote sensing and ML.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or equivalent in Precision Agriculture, Agronomy, Crop Sciences, Agricultural Engineering or related field
• Documented experience in remote sensing, particularly thermal imagery from UAVs and/or satellites
• Experience with or strong interest in machine learning
• Interest in precision agriculture and agricultural remote sensing
• Excellent written and oral English communication skills
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a research team
• Willingness to perform extensive agricultural fieldwork
• Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain one
• UAV pilot license or willingness to obtain certification

Responsabilités

• Apply satellite and UAV imagery to collect and analyze agricultural information.
• Use remote sensing technologies to support precision agriculture applications.
• Analyze geostatistical datasets and remote sensing observations.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary IPA team on research projects.
• Participate in extensive UAV-based data collection and fieldwork.
