Job summary

Skydio, the leading US drone company, is seeking a PhD Research Intern to join our world-class computer vision team. You will architect and implement algorithms running on Skydio drones, paired with core software developers on impactful, real-world autonomy projects.

Ideal candidates have strong math, theory, and software development foundations and are pursuing a PhD. Proficiency in C++ and/or Python, plus interests in computer vision, ML, motion planning, or 3D graphics, are highly desirable.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in math and software development.
• Interest in computer vision, deep learning, motion planning, dynamics and controls, 3D graphics, embedded software/firmware, distributed systems, tools/infrastructure, mobile.

Responsibilities

• Architect and implement computer vision algorithms for Skydio drones.
• Work with core software development team on ownership projects that advance autonomy capabilities.
• Research, prototype, and assess feasibility of new approaches.
• Quantify performance of core software and hardware components.
