Demonstrate Exceptional Customer Service Skills: Every day, the pharmacy technician will be talking to customers and healthcare professionals, answering questions and relaying information to pharmacists. Being a good listener and having a pleasant and cheerful demeanor is a must. Must possess strong interpersonal and “people skills”. Flexible and proactive to meet varied patient needs. Self‑motivated, a self‑starter and able to work independently.

Demonstrate Attention to Detail: Filling a prescription incorrectly can cause major illness, some fatal. Pharmacy techs need to make sure they pay close attention to what they are doing, so that customers stay safe. Distractions such as radios and personal conversations will be monitored and addressed as needed.

Demonstrate Exceptional Organizational Skills: There are many responsibilities, and a good pharmacy technician‑in‑training should be able to balance their duties to fellow colleagues and customers.

Requirements

• Pharmacy technician trainees will follow direction from pharmacist and head pharmacy technician.
• You will be responsible for pulling and filling RX orders. Receive written prescription or refill requests and verify that information is complete and accurate.
• Throughout the day retrieve daily messages from the designated voice mail boxes. Also retrieve emails, faxes and electronic prescriptions to be filled.
• Periodically rotate between customer service and wherever needed in the pharmacy department.
• File daily written prescriptions that have been filled.
• Maintain inventory and process replacement orders from the wholesaler. Order, label, and count stock of medications, chemicals, and supplies, and enter inventory data into computer.
• Assist with answering phone calls and customer inquiries
• Keep work areas clean and organized. Clean and help maintain equipment and work areas, sterilize glassware according to prescribed methods.
• Refill vials, caps, labels, bottles, printer toners, bags and any other supplies used in the pharmacy regularly.
• Maintain confidentiality
• Establish and maintain patient profiles, including lists of medications taken by individual patients.
• Operate cash registers to accept payment from customers.
• Must communicate and behave professionally and effectively with customers, colleagues, healthcare professionals, insurance companies and vendors.
• If scheduled to work as a cashier, maintain an accurate cash drawer
• Follow Grubb’s Pharmacy policies and procedures
• Other duties assigned by management

Essential Physical Requirements:

• Lifting – up to 50 lbs, bending, climbing, standing for long periods of time
• Pick and pinch small tablets with fingers, and seize, hold, grasp or turn objects with hands.
• Perceive the size, shape, temperature, or texture of objects by touching with fingertips.
• See objects at close vision and be able to identify and distinguish colors.
• Ability to process information/merchandise through computer system and POS register system.
• Ability to communicate with associates and customers.
• Ability to read, count and write to accurately complete all documentation.
• Ability to freely access all areas of the store including selling floor, stock area, and register area.
• Ability to operate and use all equipment necessary to complete required job duties.
• Ability to climb ladders.
• Ability to move or handle merchandise throughout the store generally weighing 0‑50 pounds.
• Ability to work varied hours/days as business dictates.
