Job summary

Naval Medical Center San Diego seeks a Pharmacy Technician to join the Pharmacy Division. The incumbent will perform dosage calculations, handle sterile solutions using aseptic methods, and contribute to medication audits. Eligibility requires current Pharmacy Technician certification and U.S. citizenship.

Qualified candidates will have related graduate coursework and may combine education with experience to meet requirements. Direct hire solicitation for federal service is noted.

• Auditing medications.
• A half year (9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Pharmacy and/or Pharmaceuticals.
• Combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
• Incumbent must possess a current and unrestricted certification as a Pharmacy Technician from a state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

About the Position:

This position is located at Naval Medical Center San Diego within the Operations Ancillary Services Directorate, Pharmacy Division at San Diego, California.

Specialized Experience

One year of specialized experience which includes 1) performing dosage/quantity calculations, 2) storing sterile solutions using aseptic techniques, and 3) auditing medications. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Education

A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Pharmacy and/or Pharmaceuticals.

Combination of Education and Experience

A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.

Incumbent must possess a current and unrestricted certification as a Pharmacy Technician from a state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
