Job summary

JobRx, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Pharmacy Technician to assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications, managing inventory, processing prescriptions, and delivering excellent patient care.

Job description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will assist pharmacists in the preparation and dispensing of medications, ensuring the safe and accurate delivery of pharmaceutical care to patients. You will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including managing inventory, processing prescriptions, and providing exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator, detail-focused, and committed to maintaining the highest standards of patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Medication Preparation & Dispensing: Accurately prepare, label, and dispense prescribed medications to patients as directed by a licensed pharmacist.
  • Prescription Processing: Receive and review prescription orders from patients or healthcare providers, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels, restock medications, and ensure medications are stored in accordance with safety regulations. Assist with the disposal of expired or outdated medications.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service by answering patient questions, offering advice on medication use (under the guidance of a pharmacist), and addressing concerns in a professional manner.
  • Compounding Medications: Assist in the compounding of medications (e.g., creams, ointments) when necessary, adhering to appropriate guidelines.
  • Pharmacy Record Maintenance: Maintain accurate patient and medication records, documenting all prescription information and transactions in compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Medication Packaging: Assist in the packaging and labeling of medications, ensuring that all labeling is clear, accurate, and in line with legal requirements.
  • Administrative Support: Assist pharmacists with clerical duties such as processing insurance claims, verifying patient information, and preparing reports.
  • Compliance & Safety: Follow all safety protocols, guidelines, and regulations to ensure a safe and compliant pharmacy environment, including maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Medication Management: Educate patients on proper medication use, side effects, and storage (under supervision), and assist in refilling prescriptions as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a pharmacy technician program preferred.
  • Certification:
    Licenses/Certificates: Licensed in the State of Illinois as a Pharmacy Technician. Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) is preferred.
  • Experience: Previous experience as a pharmacy technician or in a healthcare setting is preferred but not required.
  • Skills: Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with pharmacy software, prescription processing systems, and inventory management tools.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of pharmacology, medical terminology, and pharmaceutical laws and regulations.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods, lift moderate weights, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.
Compensation:

Hourly Range -$15.00-$20.38

Incentives:

Eligible for evening/night, weekend shift incentive based on company policies and applicable job codes. Additional details will be provided during the interview process.

Bonus:

Potential for a performance-based bonus, subject to eligibility criteria and achievement of defined metrics. Details regarding bonus eligibility and performance goals will be provided during the interview process or upon hire.
