Qualifications

Specialized experience: at least one year filling and labeling prescriptions, preparing medications for pharmacist verification, and distributing pharmaceuticals to patients in accordance with established protocols.
Experience using pharmacy-based computer systems to input, update, and retrieve prescription information, verify insurance and patient data, and maintain accurate medication inventory records.

Responsibilities

Receive prescriptions for the full range of pharmaceuticals including controlled drugs on the formulary.
Determine type of substance, strength, dosage, and quantity to be dispensed per procedures.
Enter prescriptions into outpatient computer system.
Coordinate with prescriber or pharmacist to clarify dosing, interactions, or instructions.
Fill and label pharmaceutical medication.
Dispense pharmaceutical medication to customers.
