Job summary

Kindred Hospital Paramount and Acute Rehabilitation Unit (ARU) seeks a Pharmacy Technician to support pharmacists, dispense medications, and prepare IV additive solutions under supervision.

Qualifications include a High School diploma, fluency in English, strong math skills, and reliable attendance. Prior hospital pharmacy experience is preferred; full benefits are offered.

Responsibilities

• Assist Pharmacist to prepare and dispense medication.

• Restore and rotate stock, restock shelves, and dispose of non-recyclable solutions.
• Ensure accurate dosages and prioritize urgent (STAT) tasks.

Kindred Hospital Paramount and Acute Rehabilitation Unit (ARU) is a 177-bed hospital. With 159 long‑term acute care hospital (LTACH) beds, we offer the same in‑depth care you would receive in a traditional hospital, but for an extended recovery period. Our 18‑bed ARU is designed for people who have experienced the debilitating effects of an acute injury, impairment or illness and, like the LTACH, partners with your physician to offer 24‑hour clinical care seven days a week so you can start your journey to wellness.

Job Summary

The Pharmacy Technician, under the direct supervision of the Market Manager/Director of Pharmacy or Registered Pharmacist, and according to standard procedures, dispenses additives for IV and irrigating solutions, mixes IV additive solutions as required using aseptic technique with the laminar air flow hood, types labels, prepares and files charge slips, and performs other related duties.

Essential Functions

• Assists Pharmacist to prepare and dispense medication
• Mixes pharmaceutical preparations, fills bottles with prescribed tablets and capsules, and prepares labels for bottles
• Fills orders with correct medications
• Prepares unit of use dosage when possible
• Processes records of medication and equipment dispensed to patient, computes charges, and enters data in computer
• Prepares intravenous (IV) packs
• Generates required reports; pick i.v., production reports
• Performs backup procedures correctly
• Recycles product as appropriate
• Changes prep and expiration date on recycled product
• Dates, times and initials all vials for reuse
• Prioritizes work (stats made first)
• Delivers IVS to proper locations
• Restocks shelves and rotates stock
• Properly disposes of non‑recyclable solutions
• Maintains i.v. refrigerator temperature log
• Receives and stores incoming supplies
• Counts stock and enters data in computer to maintain inventory records
• Returns medications to stock and rotates stock
• Fills requisitions from Nursing floors in a timely fashion
• Can calculate appropriate medication doses based on patient’s age—Adult and Geriatrics
• Cleans equipment and sterilizes glassware according to prescribed methods

Salary Range: $23.00 - $26.57 / Hr
