Job summary

Kindred Hospital Ontario is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to join our clinical team. Under supervision, you will dispense IV additives, mix solutions using aseptic technique in the laminar hood, and prepare labels and charge slips while following established procedures.

Responsibilities

• Prepare intravenous (IV) packs and ensure proper labeling.
• Generate reports and perform backup procedures as required.
• Restock shelves and maintain inventory records.
• Calculate appropriate medication doses based on patient age (Adult and Geriatrics).
• Clean equipment and sterilize glassware per prescribed methods.

Job Summary

The Pharmacy Technician under the direct supervision of the Market Manager/Director of Pharmacy or Registered Pharmacist – and according to standard procedures – dispenses additives for IV and irrigating solutions, mixes IV additive solutions as required using aseptic technique with the laminar air flow hood, types labels, prepares and files charge slips, and performs other related duties.

Essential Functions

• Assists Pharmacist to prepare and dispense medication.
• Mixes pharmaceutical preparations, fills bottles with prescribed tablets and capsules, and prepares labels for bottles.
• Fills orders with correct medications. Prepares unit of use dosage when possible.
• Processes records of medication and equipment dispensed to patient, computes charges, and enters data in computer.
• Prepares intravenous (IV) packs.
• Generates required reports; IV production reports. Performs backup procedures correctly.
• Recycles product as appropriate. Changes prep and expiration date on recycled product.
• Dates, times and initials all vials for reuse.
• Prioritizes work (e.g., STAT orders first). Delivers IVs to proper locations. Restocks shelves and rotates stock. Properly disposes of non-recyclable solutions. Maintains IV refrigerator temperature log.
• Receives and stores incoming supplies.
• Counts stock and enters data in computer to maintain inventory records.
• Returns medications to stock and rotates stock. Fills requisitions from Nursing floors in a timely fashion. Can calculate appropriate medication doses based on patient age (Adult and Geriatrics).
• Cleans equipment and sterilizes glassware according to prescribed methods.

Pay Range: $23.00-$31.17/hr.
