Job description

Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is a large non-profit teaching hospital located in Los Angeles, California. The Department of Pharmacy employs about 500 staff members and provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient pharmacy services, including two cancer centers and three outpatient pharmacies. It supports education and training of pharmacists, students, residents, technicians, and other health‑care professionals, offering PGY1 and PGY2 residency programs.

Cedars‑Sinai is seeking full‑time Pharmacy Technicians.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, deliver, and distribute medications accurately and timely to appropriate care areas in accordance with policies and procedures, while prioritizing workflow and maintaining required documentation.
• Use technology safely and effectively to prepare, distribute, deliver, and refill medications and services to patients.
• Effectively use the electronic medical record to support patient care.
• Prepare accurate and timely compounded sterile products in accordance with policies, procedures, best practices, and standards of practice.
• Assist pharmacists with patient medication reconciliation functions, including screening patients, obtaining medication lists, and documenting reconciliation activities.
• Communicate effectively with healthcare team members and patients, and participate in new initiatives and tasks as needed to support patient care.
• Perform inventory control functions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the California State Board of Pharmacy.
• Ability to perform pharmacy calculations involving ratios, proportions, and percentages.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to use software applications and operate technological devices.

• Previous hospital experience preferred.
