Job summary

UnitedHealth Group in the Chicago area is hiring a per diem, nonexempt Pharmacy Technician to support three hospital sites: Hartgrove Hospital, Garfield Park Hospital, and Riveredge Hospital.

Under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, you will prepare, deliver, and restock medications, manage inventory, and assist with safety and compliance initiatives across scheduling challenges and varied shifts.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Current Illinois Pharmacy Technician license in good standing.
• PTCB/CPhT or ability to obtain within 90 days.
• A current, valid Illinois driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and dispense medications by measuring, counting, labeling, and packaging prescriptions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist
• Assist pharmacists and healthcare providers by gathering necessary information and supporting workflow efficiency
• Deliver medications to patient care areas, including automated dispensing cabinets (ADCs) and nursing units
• Maintain medication inventory by restocking, tracking controlled substances, and monitoring expiration dates
• Support medication safety initiatives, including double-checks, labeling, and documentation
• Collaborate with pharmacists, nurses, and clinical staff to ensure timely and safe medication delivery
• Comply with hospital policies and regulatory standards, including Joint Commission and state/federal regulations

As a per diem, nonexempt Pharmacy Technician, you will assist in various pharmacy activities under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Your responsibilities will include preparing, delivering, and restocking medications; and procuring drugs. You will carry out your job duties according to written procedures and guidelines based on pharmacy standards and regulatory requirements.

Locations:

Hartgrove Hospital and Garfield Park Hospital are in Chicago, IL, and Riveredge Hospital is in Forest Park, IL.

Schedule: This per diem, nonexempt position will provide PTO and as needed coverage as a float pharmacy technician between three hospitals, Hartgrove Hospital, Garfield Park Hospital, and Riveredge Hospital, up to 40 hours/week, preferably weekends. However, there are no regularly scheduled hours for this position.

About the Pharmacies:

• Hartgrove Hospital - Pharmacy hours are Monday-Friday from 7:00am-4:00pm, weekends 7:00am - 3pm and utilizes Cerner and Omnicell
• Garfield Park Hospital - Pharmacy hours are Monday-Friday from 7:30am-3:00pm, weekends 7:00am-3pm and utilizes HCS and Omnicell
• Riveredge Hospital - Pharmacy hours are Monday-Friday from 8:00am-6:00pm, weekends 8:00am-3pm and utilizes HCS and Omnicell

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in a behavioral health hospital pharmacy
• Automated dispensing machine experience

The hourly pay for this role will range from $16 - $29 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
