Job summary

Beloit Health System is looking to hire a Per Diem Pharmacy Technician to support the Pharmacy Team. Under the direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist, you will participate in medication procurement, preparation and distribution.

Responsibilities include triaging calls, restocking Automated Dispensing Cabinets, billing, prepping unit-dose medications, monitoring storage and inventory, assisting with extemporaneous compounding, and delivering medications to patient care areas.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Wisconsin Pharmacy Technician licensure.
  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) recommended.
  • Hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient information.

Responsibilities

  • Triages pharmacy phone calls and assists pharmacists.
  • Restocks Automated Dispensing Cabinet (ACD).
  • Bills and credits medications per guidelines.
  • Prepacks unit-dose medications.
  • Ensures proper storage, stability, and expirations.
  • Monitors inventory and aids PAR level management.
  • Inspects storage areas for outdates and proper storage.
  • Assists with extemporaneous compounding for all patient ages.
  • Delivers medications to patient care areas, including controlled substances.
  • Loads new items into the dispensing system under supervision.
  • Uses computer software to perform dispensing tasks efficiently.

Beloit Health System is looking to add a Per Diem Pharmacy Technician to our Team!

  • Shift: 1st & 2nd combination
  • Schedule: Varied (10-hour shifts between 6:30a-9p)
  • Hours per week:Varied - Per Diem
  • Benefits Status:Not Eligible
  • Department: Pharmacy

The Pharmacy Technician, under the direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist, performs specific job responsibilities related to the procurement, distribution and preparation of medications.

  • Assists pharmacists by triaging phone calls and completing various other tasks as requested.
  • Performs scheduled and emergent Automated Dispensing Cabinet (ACD) restocks.
  • Bills and credits medications according to department guidelines.
  • Prepacks unit-dose medications.
  • Assures proper storage of drugs with consideration to stability, storage requirements and expiration.
  • Monitors the pharmacy inventory to ensure both adequate stock of all medications as well as working to decrease overall stock. Works with the Inventory Coordinator and Director of Pharmacy to establish minimal but adequate PAR levels of supplies.
  • Inspects assigned floor stock areas and pharmacy storage areas monthly. Routinely checks for outdates, impending expiration, and proper storage of medications.
  • Assists with extemporaneous compounding of medications, including calculations and reference searches related to compounding for all age groups ranging from the neonatal to the geriatric patient.
  • Delivers medications to patient care areas. Selects and delivers controlled substances, following department and regulatory procedures.
  • Loads new medication items into the dispensing machine under the supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Demonstrates ability to perform functions accurately and efficiently within computer software application.
Job Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Wisconsin Pharmacy Technician licensure.
  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) recommended.
  • Previous Pharmacy hospital technician experience preferred.
  • Maintains ethical conduct and keeps confidential personal and medical information about patients.
  • Reporting Relationship: Director of Pharmacy and Pharmacist
