Food City in Chilhowie, VA is seeking a Pharmacy Technician Intern to provide courteous service, process prescriptions, receive calls, and assist in preparing and stocking pharmacy tasks. You will enter data, help customers find OTC items, and maintain a clean department while supporting the pharmacy team.

This internship offers opportunities to learn in a team-oriented retail pharmacy and to contribute to a busy community-focused drugstore environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide and promote efficient and courteous service to customers at all times.
• Answer telephone and handle questions that do not require a pharmacist’s expertise or judgment.
• Receive written prescriptions or telephone refill requests.
• Gather information needed to prepare prescriptions.
• Record information needed before prescriptions can be dispensed.
• Store written prescriptions forms after prescriptions are dispensed.
• Enter data into computer.
• Stock over the counter products.
• Place completed prescriptions in pick-up area.
• Assist in preparing insurance claims and verify payments.
• Help customers find over-the-counter products.
• Maintain a clean department and work area.
• Assist in maintaining and stocking pharmacy department supplies.
• Additional job duties may be assigned as needed.
• Operate cash register.
