US Oncology Network-wide Career Opportunities in Chicago is seeking a Medically Integrated Dispensary (MID) Pharmacy Technician for a full-time role at 7447 W Talcott Ave. Monday-Friday with an hourly rate of $25-$27.

This role includes handling of patient records, prescriptions, and insurance processes. The position requires a Pharmacy Technician certificate and 3–5 years in retail pharmacy; IV admixture training is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 3–5 years of experience in a retail pharmacy setting.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician certificate or State Pharmacy Board certification.
• IV admixture training is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintains accurate patient records, including demographics, medication profiles, disease states, allergies, insurance information, and prescription records.
• Documents all patient interactions and pharmacy-related activities in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Utilizes the pharmacy management system to process prescriptions and submit claims for insurance reimbursement.
• Conducts benefits investigations and submits prior authorization requests to third-party payers.
• Assists patients in obtaining financial assistance through manufacturer programs, copay assistance programs, and charitable foundations.
• Communicates with patients regarding prescription status, insurance approvals, financial assistance, and medication access.
• Prepares and labels prescriptions in accordance with state and federal regulations and ensures all prescriptions are reviewed for accuracy by a clinical leader prior to dispensing.
• Ensures all required prescriptions, clinical documentation, and dispensing records are reviewed and authorized by the nursing manager or physician as appropriate.
• Obtains patient or authorized representative signatures for all medications dispensed.
• Supports patient monitoring activities, including refill coordination, medication adherence, persistence, and ongoing follow-up.
• Serves as a resource to clinic staff regarding oral oncology medication dispensing processes and pharmacy workflows.
• Receives, verifies, and processes medication shipments and drug orders.
• Assists in procurement activities and helps ensure medications are purchased from the most cost-effective and appropriate vendors.
• Tracks, reconciles, and reports inventory within the pharmacy management system, including monthly inventory reporting.
• Assists with managing drug recalls, expired medications, and non-utilized medication returns in accordance with regulatory requirements.
• Maintains prescription records, hardcopy documentation, and required pharmacy reports in an organized and compliant manner.
• Maintains daily operational reports and pharmacy documentation.
• Adheres to infection prevention, hazardous drug handling, workplace safety standards, and pharmacy policies and procedures.
• Supports compliance with ACHC and state board of pharmacy, and other applicable accreditation and regulatory standards.
• Participates in quality improvement initiatives and assists with maintaining readiness for accreditation surveys and regulatory inspections.
• Assists with daily IV admixture preparation and related pharmacy operations as assigned by nursing manager and pharmacy director.
