Job summary

Advantage Healthcare Services is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support pharmacists in dispensing medications and maintaining efficient pharmacy operations. You will assist with patient pickup, answer inquiries, and ensure accurate billing and records.

Responsibilities include inventory control, data entry, and adherence to safety protocols while collaborating with the care team to support patients with behavioral health needs. This role may require evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; pharmacy tech training preferred.
  • Active CPhT certification preferred or required depending on state regulations.
  • 1–2 years of pharmacy technician experience preferred.

Job Overview

The Pharmacy Technician supports pharmacists in dispensing medications, managing inventory, and providing exceptional customer service to patients. This role involves accurately preparing and labeling prescriptions, assisting with medication inventory management, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards. The Pharmacy Technician plays a critical role in maintaining the efficiency and effectiveness of the pharmacy operations.

Hours of Operations
  • Monday to Friday 9am - 6pm
Responsibilities
  • Prescription Preparation and Dispensing
    • Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing prescription medications
    • Accurately measure, count, and label medications for patient prescriptions
    • Operate pharmacy equipment such as pill counters and label printers
  • Customer Service
    • Provide friendly and efficient customer service to patients and healthcare providers
    • Answer patient inquiries regarding prescription status, medication instructions, and pharmacy services
    • Handle prescription pick‑up and drop‑off, ensuring accurate patient information and payment processing
    • Perform patient outreach and communicate with patients effectively to close gaps in their medication therapy.
  • Inventory Management
    • Manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering, receiving, and stocking medications and supplies
    • Conduct regular inventory audits to maintain accurate stock levels and prevent shortages
    • Monitor expiration dates and remove expired or recalled medications from inventory
    • Assist with the organization and cleanliness of the pharmacy storage areas
  • Data Entry and Record‑Keeping
    • Enter prescription information into the pharmacy management system accurately and efficiently
    • Maintain accurate patient profiles and medication records
    • Process insurance claims and resolve billing issues with insurance companies
    • Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements related to prescription processing and record‑keeping
  • Medication Safety and Quality Assurance
    • Adhere to safety protocols and best practices in medication handling and dispensing
    • Assist in monitoring for potential medication errors and discrepancies
    • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance pharmacy services
    • Support pharmacists in conducting medication reviews and utilization reviews
  • Supportive Duties
    • Assist pharmacists with administrative tasks, including scheduling and workflow management
    • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to stay updated on pharmacy policies and procedures
    • Provide training and guidance to new pharmacy technicians and interns
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the pharmacist or Pharmacist‑in‑Charge
Required Skills
  • Strong knowledge of pharmacy operations, medication names, and dosage forms
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Effective communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment
  • Proficiency with pharmacy software and technology systems
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a pharmacy technician training program preferred
  • Active pharmacy technician certification (CPhT) preferred or required depending on state regulations
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a pharmacy technician preferred
Working Conditions
  • Full‑time or part‑time position, with hours that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Work is performed in a retail, hospital, or clinical pharmacy setting
  • Requires standing for extended periods and handling medications and supplies
  • May involve occasional lifting of moderate to heavy objects
