Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Worcester, MA is seeking a Pharmacy Technician for Per Diem infusion center duties. Under supervision, you will handle packaging, preparation of meds, record keeping, and drug distribution, including chemotherapy and controlled substances.

Requires MA Board license, PTCB or ExCPT, high school diploma, 3 years experience, math and computer skills, and the ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Certification in Pharmacy Technician (PTCB/ExCPT) preferred or required by state licensure.
• 3 years of pharmacy-related experience preferred; strong math and computer skills essential.

Responsibilities

• Process and release orders using pharmacy dispense queue.
• Set up oncology orders including drug selection and packaging components.
• Maintain inventory and restock medications and floor stock.
• Troubleshoot pharmacy technology and equipment.
• Prepare and package all forms of medications.
• Assemble drugs accurately and efficiently.

Hiring Range:

$19.74 - $35.54

(based on a full time schedule of 40 hours per week).

Please note that the final offer will vary based on scheduled hours. Compensation for part-time or reduced schedules will be prorated based on scheduled weekly hours, experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity considerations.

Per Diem, as needed. Mostly Saturdays.

Under the direct supervision of a supervisor/manager/pharmacist performs medication related tasks such as packaging, preparation of all forms of medications, record keeping, and all aspects of drug distribution. Assists in the transportation and handling of chemotherapy and controlled substances.

Major Responsibilities:

• Processes and releases orders using pharmacy dispense queue.
• Oncology order set up through gathering drug, diluent, base solution, tubing, filters, labels, as well as anything else required for compounding.
• Maintains inventory, reorders, restocks, and monitors expiration dates of all medications in the pharmacy as well as floor stock medication provided via Pyxis.
• Familiar with pharmacy technology and equipment. Capable of troubleshooting technical problems.
• Prepares and packages all forms of medications.
• Assembles drugs in an accurate and efficient manner.

Position Qualifications:

License/Certification/Education:

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current license with the Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy.
• Certified by one of the national governing bodies such as Pharmacy Technician Certification Board PTCB, or the National Healthcareer Association ExCPT.

Experience/Skills:

Required:

• 3 years of previous experience.
• Position requires proficiency in math and the knowledge and ability to use a computer.
• Must be able to follow oral and written instructions with accuracy, efficiency, and dependability.
• Positive work ethic, motivated and professional demeanor to promote teamwork in the department.
