Job Description Summary

The Medication Assistance Program (MAP) Pharmacy Technician serves as a key member of the Ambulatory Pharmacy Team by assisting patients in obtaining access to medications through manufacturer-sponsored patient assistance programs, foundation assistance programs, and other available medication access resources. This position works collaboratively with patients, healthcare providers, pharmacies, manufacturers, and internal healthcare teams to support medication access and continuity of care.

Job Description

The MAP Pharmacy Technician is responsible for coordinating application processes, gathering and maintaining required documentation, monitoring program eligibility and renewal requirements, and ensuring timely follow-through on all patient assistance activities. This role requires a high-performing, self-directed individual with strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, technological aptitude, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of professionalism and service. Previous Medication Assistance experience preferred.

Work Experience: 3 years
Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician by the State of South Carolina Board of Pharmacy (SCBOP)is required and must be maintained. Must obtain and maintain Pharmacy Technician Certification (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT)) certification:

  • Team members as of 11/1/2023: within 1 year of 11/1/2023.
  • New Team members as of 11/1/2023: within 6 months of hire.
  • New team members who are enrolled or will enroll ina pharmacy technician training program accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) and/or recognized by PTCB, have 30 days post program completion to obtain certification.
