MAHEC's Community Pharmacy in Asheville is seeking a Pharmacy Technician III to join an interdisciplinary team focused on patient-centered care. The role centers on patient access, primarily over the phone, while collaborating with clinicians on dispensing workflows and inventory control.

Minimum qualifications include two years of pharmacy/clinical experience and a Certified Pharmacy Technician license within 12 months. On-site schedule is Monday–Friday, 40 hours, with comprehensive benefits.

JOB SUMMARY:

At all levels, Pharmacy Technicians work collaboratively as an active team member of the interdisciplinary team to provide patient centered care across the continuum. In this role, the goals include providing an excellent patient experience, high-quality outcomes, and improved productivity for the team. This position will focus on Patient Access work, with its heaviest scope serving patient needs over the phone. This is an onsite position, based at MAHEC's Community Pharmacy at Biltmore Campus, Asheville.


SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Demonstrates competence in managing various pharmacy workflows and systems including dispensing, pharmacy information systems, and inventory management.

  • Maintains a system for medication storage and security

  • Collaborates with the prior authorizations team

SPECIFIED SKILLS

COMPUTER:


  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database applications required.


FOREIGN LANGUAGE:


  • Spanish speaking skills preferred.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:


  • Physical Demands: Light - Moderate energy level: Lift and carry 25 - 35 lbs, Push/Pull 50 - 100 lbs (empty bed, stretcher, etc.)

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Pharmacy Technician III

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Meets all minimum qualifications for Pharmacy Technician II

  • Two years of pharmacy or clinical experience

  • Advanced skillset in one of the following:

  • Clinical care:

  • Examples include: refill protocol, medication access, medication reconciliation

  • Retail operations:

  • Examples include: inventory management, workforce management


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Graduation from a pharmacy technician training program


REQUIRED LICENSES:


  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) license required within 12 months of hire (applicable only to Pharmacy Technician I position).


SCHEDULE:

Regular attendance on-site is an essential function of this position. Work from home opportunities may be available for qualified applications. Typical business hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (or flexed to best meet the needs of the clients and/or the Division); 40 hours per workweek. Work hours will need to be flexible in order to respond to special work assignments, or evening activities, as requested by the team leader.


POSITION COMPENSATION:

$24.90/hour, full time + full benefits available
