Job summary

Huntsville Hospital is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing drugs, maintaining the drug inventory and maintenance of records. Pharmacy technicians work only under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. They do not perform duties that can legally be performed only by a registered pharmacist.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Registration with the Alabama Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician and an active Pharmacy Technician Certification.
• Retail pharmacy experience preferred (5 years).

Responsibilities

• Procures and distributes drug orders per physician or pharmacist requests.
• Fills prescriptions and assists pharmacists in preparation.
• Maintains stock levels and rotates inventory to prevent expirations.
• Enters charges and credits in billing process and generates reports.
• Answers calls and assists at the window; delivers meds to patient care areas.
• Keeps logs, records, and documentation accurate and organized.
• Participates in quality improvement activities of the department.
