Job summary

Kaiser Permanente in Virginia is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to welcome members at the front desk, enter prescription data into the computer system, and collect payments while preparing medications for pharmacist review. The role may include duties of inventory or admixture technician as needed.

This is a rotating shift with coverage from 7:30 AM to 4 PM and 4 PM to 12 AM. Strong attention to detail and clear communication are essential in a busy clinic setting.

Qualifications

  • Minimum one year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Virginia Pharmacist Intern License
  • Pharmacy Technician License (Virginia) AND Pharmacy Technician Certificate
  • Pharmacy Technician License (District of Columbia) within 6 months of hire
  • Pharmacy Technician License (Maryland) within 6 months of hire
  • Exam for Certification of Pharmacy Technicians from National Healthcareer Association
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, generic drug names, pharmaceutical calculations, and coordination of drug inventory in clinics
  • Proficiency in computer software
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Working knowledge of hospital computer systems
  • Working knowledge of hospital related medications
  • Data entry and spreadsheet development
  • Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment
  • Successful completion of an accredited pharmacy technician training program or US Military program preferred

Job description

  • Greets members at counter or over the telephone, verifies members eligibility status and receives prescriptions from members for pharmaceuticals.



This is a rotating shift. Shifts are 7:30AM - 4PM AND 4PM - 12AM due to business needs



Basic Qualifications:


Experience


  • Minimum one (1) year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician required.



Education


  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.



License, Certification, Registration


  • Pharmacist Intern License (Virginia)

  • Pharmacy Technician License (Virginia) AND Pharmacy Technician Certificate

  • Pharmacy Technician License (District of Columbia) within 6 months of hire

  • Pharmacy Technician License (Maryland) within 6 months of hire

  • Exam for Certification of Pharmacy Technicians from National Healthcareer Association
