Job summary

Orlando Health, Inc. is seeking a Pharmacy Technician II for the Scripts Pharmacy in Orlando, FL. Full-Time, 40 hours per week, with Monday-Thursday 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM and Friday 8:30 AM - 1:30 PM.

You will assist with medication distribution, use Orlando Health software, maintain USP 797 standards, and participate in training and development.

This position requires a high school diploma, Florida Pharmacy Technician registration, and 1–4 years of pharmacy tech experience.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Maintains Florida Pharmacy Technician registration.
  • Greater than one year up to four years of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates understanding of safety, emergency, and risk management procedures.
  • Demonstrates familiarity with hospital and Pharmacy department goals and customer service objectives.
  • Performs basic Pharmacy Technician procedures and drug procurement as required by the department.
  • Assists pharmacists with medication distribution including aseptic techniques for admixture and use of automated dispensing cabinets.
  • Maintains USP 797 standards and other regulatory documentation.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions
  • Demonstrates an understanding of safety, emergency, and risk management procedures.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the hospital mission, personnel policies, philosophy, goals, customer service, and objectives of the Pharmacy and Orlando Health.
  • Demonstrates familiarity with the general duties and processes of the Pharmacy department.
  • Demonstrates the ability to Identify and utilize resources and departments for customer service and patient care, based upon availability, and responsibility of resources.
  • Demonstrates the ability to operate the equipment required for pharmacy procedures, consistent with operating instructions, safety regulations and policy and procedures.
  • Performs the basic Pharmacy Technician procedures required by the assigned area consistent with scientific principles, policy, and procedures.
  • Performs the basic buyer procedures including drug procurement required by the department and consistent with departmental principles and Orlando Health policies and procedures.
  • Accurately assists the Pharmacist in all duties pertaining to the medication distribution including proper aseptic techniques for admixture of various types of medication (e.g. chemotherapy) and functionally performing tasks / procedures associated with automated dispensing cabinets.
  • Maintains USP 797 standards and other regulatory required documentation.
  • Maintains safe handling and proper disposal requirements.
  • Responsible for special project completion as assigned.
  • Participates in the training of new pharmacy technicians if needed.
  • Maintains advanced expertise in and actively covers technician services in a specialized practice area (eg. medication history acquisition) depending on the needs of the department.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Other Related Functions
  • Attends in-services/meetings as required.
  • Assumes responsibility for professional development and continuing education.
  • Completes all Orlando Health mandatory education.
Qualifications
Education/Training
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
Licensure/Certification
  • Maintains current Pharmacy Technician registration with the Florida State Board of Pharmacy.
Experience
  • Greater than one year up to four (4) of experience as a pharmacy technician
