Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital is hiring a Pharmacy Technician II for a part-time role at our Wesley Chapel, FL location. The ideal candidate will assist with operational and distribution duties within the Pharmacy, align with USP 797 standards, and support the pharmacist in medication distribution including aseptic techniques.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and Florida Pharmacy Technician registration, with 1–4 years of experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Maintains current Pharmacy Technician registration with the Florida State Board of Pharmacy.
• Greater than one year up to four (4) years of experience as a pharmacy technician.

Responsibilities

• Assists with operational and distribution responsibilities related to Pharmacy Technician functions.
• Supports medication distribution including aseptic techniques for admixture and use of automated dispensing cabinets.
• Maintains USP 797 standards and regulatory documentation.
• Operates equipment required for pharmacy procedures following safety and policy guidelines.
• Participates in training of new pharmacy technicians and supports specialized practice areas as needed.

Essential Functions

• Demonstrates an understanding of safety, emergency, and risk management procedures.
• Demonstrates an understanding of the hospital mission, personnel policies, philosophy, goals, customer service, and objectives of the Pharmacy and Orlando Health.
• Demonstrates familiarity with the general duties and processes of the Pharmacy department.
• Demonstrates the ability to Identify and utilize resources and departments for customer service and patient care, based upon need, availability, and responsibility of resources.
• Demonstrates the ability to operate the equipment required for pharmacy procedures, consistent with operating instructions, safety regulations and policy and procedures.
• Performs the basic Pharmacy Technician procedures required by the assigned area consistent with scientific principles, policy, and procedures.
• Performs the basic buyer procedures including drug procurement required by the department and consistent with departmental principles and Orlando Health policies and procedures.
• Accurately assists the Pharmacist in all duties pertaining to the medication distribution including proper aseptic techniques for admixture of various types of medication (e.g. chemotherapy) and functionally performing tasks / procedures associated with automated dispensing cabinets.
• Maintains USP 797 standards and other regulatory required documentation.
• Maintains safe handling and proper disposal requirements.
• Responsible for special project completion as assigned.
• Participates in the training of new pharmacy technicians if needed
• Maintains advanced expertise in and actively covers technician services in a specialized practice area (eg. medication history acquisition) depending on the needs of the department.
• Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
• Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Other Related Functions

• Attends in-services/meetings asrequired.
• Assumes responsibility for professional development and continuing education.
• Completes all Orlando Health mandatory education.
