Job summary

City of Hope is seeking a California-registered Pharmacy Technician II for a per diem role. You will assist pharmacists, prepare and handle oral, IV, and chemotherapy medications, and maintain strict inventory and control procedures in a fast-paced cancer care environment.

Responsibilities include coordinating with specialty pharmacies for infusion medications, adhering to aseptic techniques, and supporting billing and audits.

Qualifications

• 3+ years performing related duties as a pharmacy technician
• California-registered Pharmacy Technician (PhT) as required
• CPhT certification preferred by employer

Responsibilities

• Order, receive, and maintain accurate medication inventory.

• Liaise with nursing and medical staff for pharmaceutical information.
• Assist pharmacist in billing pharmaceuticals.
• Inspect all pharmacy areas where medications are stored and submit audit reports.

We are looking for a California-registered Pharmacy Technician II to join our team. Under the supervision of a pharmacist, you will be responsible for packaging, preparing, and compounding oral, intravenous, and chemotherapy/biohazard medications. Additionally, you will assist in maintaining control procedures, conducting inventory, and managing stock control.

As a successful candidate, you will:

• Ensure compliance with USP 797 & 800 at all times.
• Utilize proper aseptic technique for all pharmaceutical mixing.
• Order, receive, and maintain accurate medication inventory.
• Coordinate with Specialty Pharmacies or manufactures for timely deliveries of medications for infusion.
• Performs routine daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning as required.
• Procure and maintain supplies necessary for daily mixing operation.
• Acts as a liaison with nursing and medical staff concerning basic pharmaceutical information to achieve positive patient outcomes.
• Assist the pharmacist in billing pharmaceuticals.
• Perform inspections of all pharmacy and all clinical areas where medications are stored and submits audit report to the appropriate individual.
• Communicates effectively with all levels of staff.

Your qualifications should include:

• High School or equivalent or Post High School vocational/specialized training or Graduation from a foreign school of Pharmacy
• 3 or more years of performing related duties as a pharmacy technician
• Licensed as a Pharmacy Technician with the California State Board of Pharmacy
• Certified Pharmacist Technician (CPhT) from Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), preferred

Additional Information:

• Hourly Per Diem Rate: $36.282750
