Job summary

Advocate Health’s Lexington Medical Center - Pharmacy is seeking a pharmacy technician to support pharmacists in processing orders, maintaining stock, and delivering patient care services across hospital departments.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid CPhT, and NC Pharmacy registration within 30 days, with shifts described as four 10-hour days and weekend rotation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
• PTCB/NHA technician certification (CPhT) required.
• North Carolina Board of Pharmacy registration within 30 days of hire.
• One-year previous pharmacy experience preferred.
• Associate degree in a healthcare or business-related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Help pharmacists prepare and process medication orders to ensure correct medications and charges.
• Collaborate with others and organize daily tasks for efficiency.
• Maintain medicine stock to ensure quality drugs and supplies are available.
• Provide pharmacy services in patient care areas.
• Support quality improvement and Total Quality principles in the Pharmacy Department.
• Keep knowledge up to date and educate others.
• Set personal goals to support departmental objectives.
• Follow hospital standards to create a positive work environment through communication and teamwork.
• Provide care tailored to age-specific guidelines.

Your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

What You Will Need

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
• PTCB/NHA technician certification (CPhT) required.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

• Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
• Frequent fine motor motion of hands and wrists to operate keyboard and manipulate syringes.
• Lifts, carries, and/or pushes/pulls various items (bags, boxes, carts, etc.) while utilizing proper technique.
• Will be frequently required to lift to 35 lbs., lift and carry up to 35 lbs. at waist height a reasonable distance, push/pull with 30 lbs. of force.
• Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, bend, kneel, climb, twist, crawl and reach above shoulders.
• Must have functional speech, vision, touch, and hearing.
• May be exposed to chemical hazards.
• May be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste as well as blood and body fluids and communicable disease. Therefore, protective clothing and equipment must be worn as necessary.
