Job summary

Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, AZ is hiring a Pharmacy Technician to assist pharmacists and provide optimal pharmaceutical care to patients. You will gather, label and distribute medications, and safely compound medications including hazardous substances.

You will also manage controlled substances and support inventory and billing processes. Completion of an approved vocational Pharmacy Technician training program or at least eighteen months of applicable experience is required, with strong English

Qualifications

  • Completion of an approved vocational Pharmacy Technician training program or at least six months of applicable experience as a Pharmacy Technician; or at least eighteen months of applicable experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Effectively reads, writes, speaks and understands English.
  • Possess strong telephone and verbal communication skills; attention to detail.
  • Experience with the use of office software computer applications and keyboarding.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the pharmacist in providing optimal pharmaceutical care to the patient; gathers, labels and distributes medications.
  • Packages, prepares and safely compounds medications including hazardous substances.
  • Handles, manages and distributes controlled substances in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Assists with training new pharmacy staff and maintaining medication inventories and billing.
  • Communicates effectively using established systems and processes; works in a team and independently.

Responsibilities

Assists the pharmacist in providing optimal pharmaceutical care to the patient. Gathers, labels and distributes medications accurately and efficiently. Packages, prepares and safely compounds medications including hazardous substances accurately and efficiently. Handles, manages and distributes controlled substances in compliance with regulatory requirements and department policies; and assists with drug diversion surveillance. Accurately performs the duties of a Tech-Check-Tech Pharmacy Technician if qualified. Assists with training new pharmacy staff. Assists with maintaining accurate medication inventories and billing of medications. Effectively communicates utilizing established systems and processes. Performs responsibilities and duties of the job in a manner that is attentive to age and ability considerations.

Qualifications

Completion of an approved vocational Pharmacy Technician training program and at least six months of applicable experience as a Pharmacy Technician; or at least eighteen months of applicable experience as a Pharmacy Technician.

Other Requirements:

Effectively reads, writes, speaks and understands English. Proven history of effectively performing technical tasks and following written / verbal instructions. Able to apply math and calculator skills along with a working knowledge of the metric system. Possess strong telephone and verbal communication skills. Experience with the use of the use of office software computer applications and keyboarding. Demonstrated ability to work in a busy environment and pay attention to detail. Proven organizational and problem solving skills. Proven ability to effectively work both independently and in a team environment.

License/Registration

Current registration with the Board of Pharmacy where required by state regulation. National Pharmacy Technician Certification

Compensation Detail

$22.73 - $32.26 / hour; Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
