Job summary

Arkansas Children's is seeking a Pharmacy Technician for the Acute Care Pharmacy on the night shift. The role supports pharmacists with medication preparation, IVs, and inventory within a safety sensitive environment.

Requirements include a high school diploma, CPhT certification, and at least 1 year of direct experience; an Associate Degree is recommended. On-site, full-time, 7pm-7am shifts. Salary starts in the low $40k range.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Prepares medication and IVs, fills order request, cart fills and refills efficiently and accurately.
• Processes orders safely, prioritizing needs. Repackages and labels medications appropriately.
• Investigates and processes missing doses of medications.
• Fills emergency and stat orders in a timely manner.
• Performs controlled substances responsibilities including delivery, inventory, returns, and labeling; communicates discrepancies to management.
• Maintains drug storage areas; checks expiration dates and updates lot numbers.
• Performs aseptic and clean procedures for sterile and non-sterile orders.
• Documents fill lists, manufacturing and repackaging; assists with stocking and inventory control.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Additional Information

Pharmacy Technicians provides a moderate level of assistance to pharmacists and other healthcare professionals with the medication delivery system. Technicians will prepare new and refill medication doses which include oral, injectable, IV solutions, floor stock requests and other supply needs. They will communicate any issues with order preparation and delivery with staff pharmacist. A moderate level is identified as mastering five of the advanced practice competencies.

Description

1. 1. Prepares medication and IVs, fills order request, cart fills and refills efficiently and accurately.
2. 2. Processes orders safely, prioritizing needs. Repackages and labels medications appropriately. Investigates and processes missing doses of medications.
3. 3. Fills emergency and stat orders in a timely manner.
4. 4. Performs controlled substances responsibilities which may include delivery, inventory, returns, preparation and labeling and communication of problems or discrepancies to management.
5. 5. Communicates with other hospital staff to provide information and resolve issues to improve patient care. Solves issues with missing medication, debits and credits, etc.
6. 6. Maintains drug storage areas to assure items are stored in a clean and orderly manner. Checks and cleans expired medication area, updates lot numbers and expiration dates.
7. 7. Performs aseptic and clean procedures when processing sterile and non sterile medication orders.
8. 8. Documents fill list, manufacturing and repackaging, ordering unit dose oral solids and liquids. Assists with stocking and inventory control. Repackages medications from bulk to single units and updates lot numbers and expiration dates.
9. 9. Performs other duties as assigned.
