Job summary

Pardee UNC Health Care in North Carolina is hiring a Pharmacy Technician I – Inpatient to support the pharmacy team with medication preparation and dispensing under a pharmacist. The role requires a high school diploma, basic arithmetic skills, and attention to detail; preferred: customer service experience and formal pharmacy technician training.

Work is onsite, full-time, 40 hours weekly, daytime schedule.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Must have basic arithmetic skills including multiplications, ratios, and percentages.

Responsibilities

• Supports daily Pharmacy operations and medication dispensing under pharmacist supervision.
• Utilizes pharmacy systems to pull medications for dispensing and inventory control.
• Completes controlled substance documentation accurately.
• Repackages medications in compliance with local policy.
• Assists nurses and clinical staff with Pyxis questions.
• Sterile and non-sterile compounding of medications as required.
• Delivers medications to patient care units in a timely manner.
• Takes direction from pharmacist staff on clinical concerns and questions.

Summary:

The Pharmacy Technician I – Inpatient will support the pharmacy staff in medication preparation and dispensing under the direction of a pharmacist.

Responsibilities:

• Supports daily Pharmacy operations, including but not limited to the following:
• Utilizes technology to pull medications for accurate dispensing and inventory control
• Communicates inventory concerns or special needs to the purchasing agent
• Accurately completes controlled substance documentation
• Repackages medications compliant with local policy
• Assists nurses/clinical staff with Pyxis questions
• Sterile compounding of intravenous medications
• Non-sterile compounding of oral medications

• Maintains an organized and effective work environment
• Avoids errors through high attention to detail to prevent undesirable clinical outcomes
• Uses an array of business systems on a stationary computer workstation
• Delivers medications to patient care units in a timely manner
• Maintain efficient workflow and timely dispensing of patient medications
• Takes direction from pharmacist staff regarding clinical concerns/questions
