Job summary

Vitruvian Health is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to assist pharmacists with medication distribution in a hospital setting. You will receive medications, stock AMDCs, and prepare, label, and dispense medications to patients.

The role requires a high school diploma, Tennessee registration within 90 days, and familiarity with USP 795/797 standards. Prior pharmacy tech experience is preferred, with strong math and computer skills vital to success.

Qualifications

  • High School graduate or equivalent or enrolled in high school.
  • Tennessee Pharmacy Technician registration within 90 days of employment is required.
  • Certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board or equivalent is encouraged.
  • Prior pharmacy technician experience preferred.
  • Basic math, computer skills, clear communication, and knowledge of medical terminology are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the pharmacists with support activities and processes related to medication distribution.
  • Receive medication and other supplies for storage and stock AMDCs or areas where medications are stored.
  • Prepare, package, and label medications to be dispensed to patients.
  • Compound non-sterile products according to USP 795 and 797 standards.
  • Ensure compliance with handling of hazardous drugs according to USP 800 standards.
  • Demonstrate computer proficiency with dispensing software; audits, inventory maintenance and charge processing may be required.

JOB SUMMARY

Assists the pharmacists with support activities and processes related to medication distribution within the hospital. Receives medication and other supplies for storage. Stocks Automated Medication Dispensing Cabinets (AMDCs) or areas where medications are stored. Prepares, packages, and labels medications to be dispensed to patients. Compounds non-sterile products according to USP <795> standards. Compounds non-sterile products according to USP <797> standards. Shows compliance with receiving and handling of hazardous drugs according to USP <800> standards. Demonstrates computer proficiency with software related to dispensing of medications. Additional pharmacy technician duties such as audits, inventory maintenance, and charge processing may be expected at the discretion of the Director of Pharmacy.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education:

High School graduate or equivalent or enrolled in high school.

Licensure:
  • Current Tennessee Pharmacy Technician registration required within 90 days of employment*.
  • Certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board or equivalent national certification board is encouraged*.

*An individual enrolled in, or a graduate of a recognized school or college of pharmacy is defined as a “pharmacy intern” (TAC 63-10-204) and exempt from this registration requirement.

Experience:

Prior pharmacy technician experience preferred.

Skills:

Basic math calculations and computer skills. Maintaining effective working relationships with fellow associates. Clear and effective communication. Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred. Self-motivated, diligent, attention to detail.
