Job summary

Watson Clinic is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support prescription processing, inventory management, and patient communications. You will enter patient and insurance data, assist pharmacists, and provide back-up coverage for the Clerk.

Strong computer skills and Florida registration are required, with a state-certified background preferred for advanced responsibilities. The role involves collaborating with vendors, handling third-party payments, and contributing to month-end procedures.

Qualifications

• 2 years’ experience required.
• Must be able to multitask efficiently with good computer skills.
• Registered as a Pharmacy Tech in the state of Florida.
• Pharmacy Tech certification as required by the state is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Enter patient, prescription and insurance information into computer; consult pharmacist on uncertain matters.
• Assist Pharmacy Clerk: check in orders, place merchandise, assist at counter, provide back-up coverage.
• Work with outside vendors to maintain inventory and ensure proper payment of invoices.
• Receive refill requests by phone and contact prescriber for authorizations.
• Keep pharmacy neat and orderly; fill vials/bins; order supplies; mail items; coordinate with Mailroom; enter items in system for OTC and Rx orders nightly.
• Assist in timely posting of third‑party payments and charge accounts; follow up on past due billings; keep files up to date.
• Assist with end-of-month procedures and reports to Accounting.

Essential Functions

• Assists pharmacists with prescription processing by entering necessary patient, prescription and insurance information into computer. Consults pharmacist on any matter where there is uncertainty or lack of knowledge.
• Aids Pharmacy Clerk in performance of duties by helping check in orders, placing merchandise in proper location, assisting Clerk at counter as needed, and providing back-up coverage for Clerk.
• Works with outside vendors to maintain inventory of items available for resale and ensures proper payment of invoices.
• Receives refill request from patients by phone and contacts prescriber electronically or by phone for refill authorizations.
• Performs various support activities, including helping keep pharmacy neat and orderly; keeping vial and oval bins filled; orders supplies as needed; mails items to patients; calls Mailroom when items need to be delivered; and enters items into computer for OTC and Rx nightly orders.
• Aids Coordinator in the timely receiving and posting of third-party payments and charge accounts; follows up on past due billings and keeps files up to date and in order.
• Helps in end of month procedures and reports to be submitted to accounting department.

Requirements
