Job summary

Southern Pharmacy Services in Grottoes, VA, part of the Guardian family, seeks a Fulfillment Pharmacy Technician I to accurately fill and package prescriptions for delivery. Under supervision of a Registered Pharmacist, you will verify information, apply labels, scan and assemble medications, manage inventory, and support a fast-paced, team‑oriented environment with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.

Hours are flexible: 4 ten-hour days or 5 eight-hour days, with potential for growth within the

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required per state requirements.
  • Pharmacy Technician license/certification/registration required; national certification preferred (PTCB).
  • 1+ years of related experience; basic computer skills; ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare prescription orders by verifying information and pulling appropriate prescriptions from inventory.
  • Apply labels to medication packaging, scan and assemble into appropriate bins accurately.
  • Notify pharmacist on duty of any medication not scanning properly.
  • Participate in training to gain proficiency in Fulfillment workflow areas.
  • Communicate inventory needs to ensure adequate supply to complete all orders.
  • Maintain inventory levels, remove expired meds, and keep storage neat and organized.
  • Meet pharmacy accuracy and productivity targets.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and other areas to keep workflow smooth.

Under the supervision of a Registered Pharmacist, the Fulfillment Pharmacy Technician I is responsible for the filling and packaging of prescriptions in an accurate and timely manner for delivery to our customers.

Schedule Needed:

Monday - 9:30am-8:00pm

Tuesday - OFF

Wednesday - 9:30am-8:00pm

Thursday - 9:30am-8:00pm

Friday - 9:30am-8:00pm

Saturday - OFF

Sunday - OFF

***Hours/days are flexible

*** 4 10-hour days or 5 8-hour days

Essential Job Functions (include the following):

  • Prepare prescription orders by verifying information and pulling appropriate prescriptions from inventory.
  • Apply labels to medication packaging, scan and assemble into appropriate bins in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Alert pharmacist on duty of any medication that is not scanning properly.
  • Participate in training and development activities to gain proficiency in other Fulfillment workflow areas.
  • Communicate inventory needs to ensure adequate supply of medication available to complete all orders.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory at appropriate levels, including removing expired or unused meds, marking used bottles and keeping inventory neat and arranged in-order. May assist in physical inventory.
  • Consistently meet pharmacy’s established accuracy and productivity levels.
  • Work collaboratively with other supervisors/functional areas to keep work flowing smoothly and efficiently.
  • Maintain clean and orderly workstation. Put medications away and replenish all stock supplies needed.
  • Comply with local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and policies pertaining to the dispensing of prescription medications.
  • Other essential functions and duties may be assigned as needed

Education and Certifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED (per state requirements)
  • Pharmacy Technician license/certification/registration (per state requirements); National Certification preferred (PTCB)

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of related experience (technical knowledge/skills may substitute for experience)
  • Basic computer skills required
  • Ability to work independently and deliver to deadlines
  • Great attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to excel in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment working on multiple tasks simultaneously, while adhering to strict deadlines
  • Quality minded; motivated to seek out errors and inquire about inaccuracies
