Job description

The Pharmacy Technician will perform the duties of a pharmacy technician, and advanced technician work, in compliance with standard procedures, Joint Commission, State Department of Health, and other regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Accurately and efficiently selects medications for dispensing.
• Answers the telephone with appropriate telephone etiquette.
• Delivers medications and supplies to the proper location in a timely fashion.
• Compounds sterile products using aseptic technique.
• Maintains proficiency with current departmental system technologies.
• Performs basic compounding and calculations.
• Maintains contemporary professional knowledge base.
• Communicates and coordinates schedule availability with leadership and/or department scheduler.
• Participates in the evaluation, development, and implementation of process improvement.
• Performs Automated Dispensing Cabinet duties.
• Accepts feedback graciously with a focus on personal growth and development.
• Completes mandatory learning, licensing, and other requirements independently, without the intervention of leadership.
• Communicates with patients, their families, other hospital employees and departments in a positive and professional manner.
• Individuals may not perform all these duties, or may perform additional, related duties not listed here.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent is required (Required).
• 2-4 years Previous pharmaceutical or related healthcare experience education preferred (Required).
• Required Certifications/Licensures: (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) National Certification or National Healthcare Association (NHA)).
