Job summary

Walgreens is seeking a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Apprentice to join our Norfolk, VA team. You will be at the front line, interacting with customers and building strong patient relationships as the pharmacy centers on patient care.

The program includes earning and maintaining PTCB certification and on‑the‑job training designed to advance toward a certified pharmacy technician role, with guidance from pharmacists and store leadership.

Qualifications

• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Willingness to work flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
• Six months of experience in a retail environment preferred.
• Good math skills to fill prescriptions accurately.
• Good computer skills and familiarity with store systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Engages customers and patients, greets them, and assists with products and services to deliver a positive experience.
• Assists in pharmacy operations under pharmacist supervision, including data entry, dispensing, verification, and workflow support.
• Handles phone calls and coordinates with physicians as needed, processes claims, and participates in inventory management.
• Maintains accurate cash handling, stocking, readiness of the Pharmacy Department, and supports clinical services as required.
