Responsibilities
- Under the direction of a pharmacist and in coordination with other technicians, prepare unit dose and intravenous medications for dispensing to patients.
- Make scheduled deliveries to appointed nursing units to deliver medications to patients.
- Assist pharmacists with medication order entry into the pharmacy computer system.
- Maintain stock levels of medications to avoid delays in service to patients.
- Demonstrate the ability to work as a member of a team.
- Serve as functional and technical expert in each area or specialty; lead and direct technical activities in that area.
- Lead Pharmacy Technician acts as a positive role model and supports productivity management, training, mentoring of new staff, special projects, and committee meetings.
- Comply with all hospital and department rules, regulations and requirements.
Position Summary
- This position performs all duties of a Pharmacy Technician Senior, in addition to coordinating daily workflow, daily assignments and providing overall support to the operation of the department.
- The Lead provides all quality assessment and audit activities for the Pharmacy area.
- This position assists the licensed pharmacist in providing pharmaceutical services to patients, as well as providing necessary services and information to nursing and medical staff.
- These services include leading the preparation and packaging of medications, distribution of medications, supplies and equipment, maintaining proper inventory levels, keeping appropriate records and documentation, and submitting patient charges/credits.
- The Lead may cover additional Manager responsibilities, as necessary, in the Manager's absence or if a vacancy occurs.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Certified Pharmacy Technician
- 4 years of relevant experience required; 6 or more years of relevant experience preferred
