Job summary

A family-owned grocery chain is seeking a dedicated pharmacy assistant to support pharmacists in dispensing prescriptions and providing excellent customer service. Responsibilities include assisting customers, handling cash transactions, updating patient records, and managing inventory. Ideal candidates will have strong customer service skills and a commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality. Part-time and full-time positions are available in a dynamic work environment, with a starting pay of $20.00/hr.

Position Summary

• Assists Pharmacists to fill, dispense prescriptions for customers.
• Assists customers at counter, retrieves prescriptions, rings up customers.
• Orders and stocks drugs, supplies, and over-the-counter merchandise.
• Updates patient records and inventory, processes invoices, and makes accounting entries using computerized system.

Essential Functions and Tasks

• Assists customer at counter, receives written prescriptions for Pharmacists, retrieves filled prescriptions.
• Rings up orders.
• Receives payment, makes change, processes checks, credit and debit charges.
• Provides prompt and courteous customer service.
• Answer phones, directs customers to product location.
• Assists Pharmacists in updating patient profile and entering prescriptions information into the pharmacy computer to extent allowable by State law.
• Preserves patient confidentiality.
• Assists Pharmacist in filling prescriptions by bringing stock bottles, counting, pouring, restocking, labeling, and pricing prescriptions under direct Pharmacist’s supervision to the extent allowable by State law.
• Follows safety and security procedures.
• Prepares third-party insurance claims, processes invoices, and makes accounting entries using computerized system.
• Orders, receives, tags, and stocks prescription drugs and supplies. Follows product storage procedures and standards.
• Creates product signs.
• Cleans department by sweeping, mopping, spraying, wiping, and dusting. Empties trash and operates trash compactor and cardboard baler.

Non-Essential Functions and Tasks

• Assists with front end duties as necessary.
• Assists in other departments of the store as necessary.
• Performs other functions as necessary or assigned.

• Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Working Environment

Work is performed in a store setting with ability to speak and receive phone communications often. Work requires computer usage with strength, dexterity, coordination and visual acuity to use keyboard and video display terminal and other office equipment. Continuously standing, walking, reaching at/below shoulders, frequently lift/carry up to 50 pounds below waist, up to 50 pounds at waist/chest and occasional lifting of up to 75 pounds.
