Job summary

PruittHealth Pharmacy Services in Georgia-Toccoa is seeking a certified Pharmacy Technician to assist pharmacists with daily operations, medication preparation, labeling, and dispensing tasks.

The role requires Georgia certification, familiarity with medical terminology, and good communication skills; 3 years of pharmacy experience is preferred. This is a full-time, first-shift position at our PruittHealth Pharmacy Services location in Toccoa.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Current Georgia Certified Pharmacy Technician.
• National Pharmacy Technician Certification is required.
• 3 years pharmacy experience preferred.
• Familiar with medical terminology.
• Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Pulls correct medication from shelf and scans against prescription label for accuracy.
• Packages medication in appropriate container for dispensing system.
• Mixes pharmaceutical preparations according to written orders.
• Labels medication container with correct prescription label and auxiliary labels.
• Cleans and maintains equipment and work areas.
• Replenishes medications in emergencies and stores accordingly.
• Prints delivery manifests and places in delivery tote.
• Locks delivery tote for delivery and loads totes for transport.
• Unpacks returned items and routes to appropriate department.
• Replaces outdated or unusable medications.
• Generates reports and maintains logs and records as required.

Job description

JOB PURPOSE:

Prepares medications under the direction of the pharmacist. May measure, mix, count, package, label and record amounts and dosages of medications.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Pulls correct medication form shelf and scans against prescription label for accuracy.
• Packages medication in appropriate container for correct dispensing system.
• Mixes pharmaceutical preparations according to written orders.
• Labels medication container with correct prescription label and necessary auxiliary labels.
• Cleans and helps maintain equipment and work areas.
• Replenishes medications in emergencies, refrigerator, and controlled substances boxes accordingly.
• Prints delivery manifests and places in correct delivery tote.
• Locks delivery tote when ready for delivery; ensures totes are loaded to delivery vehicle.
• Unpacks items returned in totes and forwards to appropriate department.
• Pulls stickers for reorder items and forwards them to Inventory Manager.
• Places received stock on shelves accurately.
• Keeps medication storage area clean and free of dust and clutter.
• Completes and documents all assigned medication storage area inspections at least monthly.
• Identifies and replaces outdated or unusable medications.
• Generates reports and labels as required.
• Maintains logs, records and other required documentation accurately.
• Collects data, conducts operations checklists and quality monitors and completes documentation as assigned.
• Assists in training new partners as required.
• Maintain TCGRx equipment.
• Replenishes AdvantageRx containers.
• Fills AdvantageRx trays.
• Operations AdvantageRx dispensing equipment including ATP-384, InSpectRx and Corrector.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School diploma or GED
• Must be a current Certified Pharmacy Technician – State of Georgia
• National Pharmacy Technician Certification is required.
• 3 years pharmacy experience preferred.
• Should be familiar with medical terminology.
• Excellent communication skills
