Overview
Cognito LLC, a Planned Systems International (PSI) joint venture, is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support the ICE Health Services Corps (IHSC) at the T. Don Hutto Detention Center in Taylor, TX. As a civilian contractor working for Cognito, you will utilize your abilities as a Pharmacy Technician to provide safe, high-quality healthcare to those in ICE custody. IHSC serves as the medical experts for ICE detainee healthcare, working within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for providing a full range of pharmacy services and ensuring compliance with IHSC policies and procedures. Key duties include:
- Preparation and dispensing of medication orders.
- Providing direct patient care within the scope of practice and current licensure.
- Responding to medical emergencies as needed.
- Reading prescriptions, determining drug details, and preparing medications for final pharmacist check.
- Consulting with pharmacists to clarify prescriptions and recognizing issues requiring pharmacist intervention.
- Managing inventory, checking for shortages and expiration dates, and maintaining records.
- Operating pharmacy equipment and maintaining cleanliness and organization.
- Utilizing electronic health records and data management software.
- Maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA regulations.
- Participating in staff meetings and ongoing training.
Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Maintains BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
- Ability to pass background checks, drug screening, and meet immunization requirements.
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical practices, equipment, and regulations.
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment and utilize interpretation services if needed.
- Proficiency in English, Microsoft Office, and electronic health records.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, critical thinking, and cultural competency skills.
Physical Demands
- Ability to move over uneven surfaces, lift moderately heavy objects, and respond quickly to emergencies.
