Duties & Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Under direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, prepares, packages, and distributes medications; performs clerical duties related to the operation of a pharmacy; and performs other related duties as required.

  • Selects drugs from stock for preparation: counts, pours, or mixes pharmaceuticals; places pharmaceutical products in appropriate containers and affixes labels to containers; packages and ships medication packages.
  • Monitors prescription inventory for expired pharmaceuticals that must be returned to manufacturer.
  • Receives prescriptions and obtains information; using a computerized system, enters prescription data to create a patient profile.
  • Helps to maintain the pharmacy in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Provides excellent customer service to all patients and medical professionals via phone or in person.
  • Ability to preserve confidentiality of protected health information (PHI).
  • May be assigned to maintenance of pharmacy filing systems (hard copy, signature logs, and invoices).
  • Prepare and track delivery instructions and invoices to assist delivery staff and common carriers responsible for home or office delivery.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Hourly rate: $20 - $25

Requirements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to function well in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education and Experience
  • High school or equivalent (Preferred).
  • Pharmacy Technician Experience: 3 years (Preferred).
  • Customer Service: 1 year (Preferred).
  • Pharmacy Technician License (Preferred).
