Job summary

Rockglade Government Solutions seeks an experienced Pharmacy Technician to support the Health Services Department at FCI Gilmer in Glenville, West Virginia. This role partners with the facility’s pharmacist to ensure daily operations in a federal correctional setting.

You will assist with medication preparation, dispensing, inventory, and records in a secure environment, meeting all federal and institutional guidelines. Strong attention to detail and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited or formal Pharmacy Technician training program and internship
  • At least one year of professional Pharmacy Technician experience
  • Current BLS/CPR certification
  • Familiarity with pharmacy equipment, automated systems, and infection-control practices
  • Ability to communicate with pharmacists, physicians, staff, and incarcerated individuals
  • Able to pass health screenings and orientation for correctional environment
  • Previous correctional or institutional healthcare experience preferred but not required

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Pharmacy Technician to support the Health Services Department at FCI Gilmer in Glenville, West Virginia. The Pharmacy Technician will work alongside the facility’s pharmacist to support daily pharmacy operations within a federal correctional setting.

Position Overview

The Pharmacy Technician will assist with receiving, organizing, storing, preparing, and dispensing prescription and over-the-counter medications. Additional responsibilities include maintaining pharmacy inventory, identifying expired medications, preparing unit-dose medications and medication cards, maintaining accurate records, and helping ensure the pharmacy remains clean and organized.

All work must be performed in accordance with applicable federal, state, and institutional requirements.

Work Schedule
  • Monday through Friday, approximately 6:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
  • Seven one-hour work sessions per day
  • Approximately 35 hours per week
  • No work on federal holidays
  • Schedule adjustments may occasionally be necessary based on institutional operations
Minimum Qualifications
  • Completion of an accredited or formal Pharmacy Technician training program and internship

  • Current BLS/CPR certification
  • Familiarity with pharmacy equipment, automated pharmacy systems, and infection-control practices
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with pharmacists, physicians, institutional staff, and incarcerated individuals
  • Ability to successfully complete required medical and health screenings and be free from communicable diseases
  • Ability to complete the institution’s required Familiarization Orientation before beginning work
  • Previous experience working in a correctional or institutional healthcare environment is preferred but is not required
Primary Responsibilities
  • Assist the pharmacist with medication preparation, distribution, and inventory management
  • Receive, organize, stock, and maintain pharmaceutical supplies
  • Identify and remove expired or outdated medications
  • Prepare medication cards and unit-dose medications
  • Maintain accurate medication, inventory, and pharmacy records
  • Perform routine administrative and clerical duties
  • Enter and maintain information within electronic medical record systems as required
  • Keep pharmacy work areas clean, organized, and properly maintained
  • Assist with quality assurance and inventory-control activities
  • Follow all institutional security, safety, and pharmacy procedures

  • Professional workplace attire is required; khaki and green clothing are prohibited

  • Candidates must meet all eligibility and security requirements necessary to work inside a federal correctional institution
