Job summary

Infusion Solutions Inc in Washington state is hiring a Pharmacy Technician to support pharmacists by filling IV medication orders and preparing sterile admixtures in a laminar hood. You will help manage inventory, process records, and assist with shipments and billing, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

The role requires a completed accredited technician program, current WA license, and strong aseptic technique. Prior IV compounding experience is a plus in a fast-paced infusion setting.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician program is required.
  • Current Washington Pharmacy Technician license is required by state law.
  • Experience with sterile compounding and IV admixture is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Fill physician orders for injectable medications and aseptically prepare IV admixtures.
  • Prepare intravenous solutions and admixtures in laminar hood per USP 797.
  • Maintain inventory of medications and supplies and reorder as needed.
  • Assist with order entry, billing records, and proper documentation.
  • Train Pharmacy Technician students or new staff as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with USP 797, HIPAA, and company policies.

Position SummaryAssists the pharmacist by filling physician orders for medications for injectable use. Mix IV admixture solutions as required using aseptic technique in the laminar air flow hood. Runs refills, prepares non-mix orders, and performs other related duties.Essential Job FunctionsAnswers the phone and greets customers in a professional, courteous and friendly manner.Prepares intravenous solutions and admixtures, compliant with USP 797 guidelines.Initial and annual competencies for quality assurance for compounding sterile products: Fingertip testing, media fill testing.End product sterility testing to be performed quarterly.Assists Purchaser with month end inventories for medications and supplies.Knows how to purchase medications and supplies (Mckesson/Cardinal).Maintains inventory of medications and supplies and reorders them according to need.Processes records of medications and supplies dispensed to clients. Has a clear understanding of A codes and S codes, and the importance of billing dates.Follows procedures for patient deliveries. (Checking ticket, getting delivery ticket signed.)Follows procedure when pulling medications and supplies (Initials all forms per policy: Mix reports/DV slips).Aids in the training of Pharmacy Technician students or new employees.Prepares select reports and documents data on a daily basis compliant with policies for IV compounding (temperature logs, cleaning logs, etc.).Receives and stores incoming deliveries of medication and supplies.Assists the pharmacists in providing pharmaceutical care for clients ranging in age from neonate to geriatric. Must be able to identify and understand that there are dosage variations between newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric clients and know to consult with the pharmacist if any doubt or questions arise.Follows the five (5) medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors.Maintains Infusion Solutions Pharmacy in a clean and orderly manner.DME tracking, check out, cleaning, returning. (In One Track & Caretend). Understands the importance of contacting patients timely for DME retrieval. Knows how to use the DME Retrieval spreadsheet.Knows how to pack up medications up for shipping using GSO/FedEx. (Use of Ice/Temp indicators).Performs responsibilities across multiple pharmacy technician functions, including IV compounding, order entry, inventory management, and float support, based on operational needs.Communicates effectively with patients and documents interactions accurately in accordance with company standards.Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice to meet organizational needs.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThis position has no supervisory responsibilities. The Pharmacy Technician reports to the Tech Supervisor or Pharmacy Manager and works under direct supervision.Required Education, Licensure & ExperienceAll requirements below are job-related and consistent with business necessity.High school diploma or GED.Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician program.Current Pharmacy Technician license in the state of Washington (per state law).Preferred Education & ExperiencePreferred qualifications are not required but are job-related and consistent with business necessity.Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy, healthcare, or related field preferred.Prior work-related experience preferred (pharmacy, healthcare, or clerical experience).Prior experience in home infusion pharmacy and familiarity with pharmacy operations, medication handling, and IV compounding processes preferred.Minimum of 1 year of pharmacy or sterile compounding experience, including proficiency in IV admixture preparation, aseptic technique, and USP <797> compliance preferred.Familiarity with inventory management systems preferred (e.g., McKesson, Cardinal).Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with pharmacy software systems preferred.Core CompetenciesProfessional and courteous customer service.Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation (accurate preparation, labeling, and verification of medications and supplies).Basic knowledge of pharmacy operations, IV compounding, and medication handling.Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work environment, including orderly work areas and proper inventory control.Effective collaboration with pharmacists, pharmacy staff, and other team members.Knowledge of pharmaceutical care principles, dosage variations across age groups, and IV compounding standards.Adherence to USP <797>, HIPAA, and pharmacy policies.Recognizes and resolves potential medication errors.Ability to prioritize and manage multiple workflows to support timely patient care.Physical DemandsThe following physical demands are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
