Responsibilities

  • Pick and replenish medications in a high-volume automated pharmacy environment.
  • Manually fill prescription vials with prescribed tablets and capsules.
  • Read computer-generated screens to locate indicated medications on labeled shelves.
  • Verify medication product, size, and strength before filling prescriptions.
  • Perform basic mathematical calculations to accurately count or determine the appropriate quantity of medication.
  • Replenish automated dispensing cells to full capacity.
  • Open and handle large quantities of medication bottles and product cases.
  • Use handheld scanners to scan medication barcodes.
  • Enter expiration dates and lot information into the appropriate computer applications.
  • Maintain a high level of concentration and accuracy to prevent medication errors and cross-contamination.

Job description

Contractor Pay Rate: $26.00/hour Location: Everett, WA 98203 Work Arrangement: Onsite Current Schedule: Sunday: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM Monday – Wednesday: 1:00 PM – 9:30 PM Thursday: Off Friday: 1:00 PM – 9:30 PM Saturday: Off Mandatory overtime is required and may occasionally be up to 1 additional hour. This position is based in a Central Fill pharmacy in Everett, WA, supporting patient-level prescription fulfillment for a large national retail pharmacy chain. There is no direct patient interaction, answering of phones, or dealing with insurance companies in this role. The Pharmacy Technician works in a fast-paced, high-volume, automated production environment focused on picking, replenishment, prescription fulfillment, packing, and shipping. Under the supervision of a Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician prepares, packages, and distributes medications while maintaining accuracy, safety, quality, and continuous workflow. The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, dependable, comfortable performing repetitive tasks, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Pick and replenish medications in a high-volume automated pharmacy environment.
  • Manually fill prescription vials with prescribed tablets and capsules.
  • Read computer-generated screens to locate indicated medications on labeled shelves.
  • Verify medication product, size, and strength before filling prescriptions.
  • Perform basic mathematical calculations to accurately count or determine the appropriate quantity of medication required.
  • Replenish automated dispensing cells to full capacity.

  • Use handheld scanners to scan medication barcodes.
  • Enter expiration dates and lot information into the appropriate computer applications.

  • Perform quality checks for expired or damaged products.
  • Prepare cold-chain and specialty prescriptions according to specific handling, storage, and packing requirements.
  • Assist with prescription packing and shipping.
  • Follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and pharmacy processes.
  • Comply with federal and state HIPAA requirements and pharmacy standards to protect patient safety and privacy.
  • Complete weekly cycle counts as assigned by the Inventory Manager.
  • Audit cell inventory and count products at primary and secondary bin locations.
  • Assist with researching inventory discrepancies and identifying potential root causes.
  • Recognize workflow, inventory, or production issues and appropriately address or escape them to management.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and efficient work environment.
  • Consistently meet productivity, quality, accuracy, and safety expectations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
DAY-TO-DAY ACTIVITIES

The primary focus of this position is picking and replenishing medication within a high-volume Central Fill pharmacy operation. Daily activities may include locating and picking medication, replenishing automated dispensing cells, scanning products, entering lot and expiration information, performing inventory counts, preparing prescriptions for shipment, and completing quality and safety checks.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Current Pharmacy Technician License required.
  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification through PTCB or ExCPT required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining consistent focus.
  • Basic mathematical and counting skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret computer-generated instructions and medication labels.
  • Basic computer and technology skills.
  • Ability to recognize problems, resolve issues within established procedures, and elevate concerns appropriately.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also contributing effectively to a team.
  • Ability to comply with pharmacy procedures, HIPAA requirements, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to work the assigned schedule and mandatory overtime as required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Previous Central Fill or automated pharmacy experience.
  • Experience with medication picking, replenishment, inventory, or fulfillment.
  • Experience using handheld barcode scanners.
  • Experience working in a high-volume pharmacy, warehouse, fulfillment center, or production environment.
  • Familiarity with pharmacy inventory processes and medication handling procedures.
PHYSICAL & WORK ENVIRONMENT

This is an onsite, fast-paced pharmacy production position.

  • Remain focused while performing repetitive production tasks.
  • Stand and walk for extended periods during the workday.
  • Bend, reach, grasp, lift, and handle medication products and cases as required.
  • Safely handle and move pharmacy inventory.
  • Work efficiently in a high-volume automated production environment.
  • Follow strict safety, quality, medication-handling, and contamination-prevention procedures.
