Job summary

Del Sol Medical Center in El Paso, TX, is seeking a Pharmacy Technician under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to ensure the prompt and accurate delivery of medications to patients in accordance with Texas pharmacy laws and department policies.

The position involves preparation of sterile and non-sterile preparations, adherence to department procedures, and providing professional outpatient pharmacy services. State registration or board certification is required or preferred.

Qualifications

• State registration with Texas Board of Pharmacy or Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or licensed pharmacy technician required.

Responsibilities

• Under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, ensure safe and accurate medication delivery to patients.
• Prepare sterile and non-sterile liquids and solid dosage forms and handle care supplies and equipment.
• Adhere to department policies and decentralized pharmacy service procedures.
• Support quality improvement programs and maintain compliance with state/federal regulations.
• Produce IV solutions and other sterile products per policy and procedure.
• Maintain compliance with controlled substance handling and distribution policies.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Pharmacy Technician under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist ensures the prompt and accurate delivery of medications to patients in accordance with the pharmacy laws of State of Texas and the policy and procedures of the department of Pharmacy. The position is responsible for the preparation of sterile and non-sterile preparations of liquids and solid dosage forms as well as the care supplies and equipment.

• Demonstrates a complete understanding of the policies and procedures of the departments decentralized pharmacy service.
• Adheres to and participates in the quality improvement program of the department.
• Always adheres to the distribution policies of the department’s decentralized services.
• The outpatient policies and procedures of the department are carried out accurately and efficiently, providing professional outpatient pharmacy services.
• Consistently demonstrates an ability to keep up with patient workload.
• Demonstrates a complete understanding of all policies and procedures concerning the responsibilities of a pharmacy technician.
• Demonstrates a good judgement and decision-making skills.
• Demonstrates a good rapport and cooperative working relationship with others.
• Ensures that the production and distribution of IV solutions and other sterile products including parenteral nutrition products, injectable chemotherapy, antibiotics and other medications for intravenous therapy, are in accordance with departmental policies and procedure.
• Demonstrates a complete understanding of the State and Federal laws governing the handling and dispensing of controlled substances. Adheres to the controlled substance distribution policies of the department.
• Promotes positive Customer service with internal and external customers.
• Other duties as assigned.
