Job summary

Cedar Springs Hospital seeks a part-time Pharmacy Technician to support daily pharmacy operations in Colorado Springs. Responsibilities include assembling and labeling medications, filing prescriptions, maintaining inventory, and assisting clinicians with patient inquiries.

Candidate should have a high school diploma or GED, a Pharmacy Technician credential or equivalent, and ideally a CPhT certification. IDX experience and bilingual Spanish are pluses.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of drug nomenclature and pharmacy math; English communication skills both written and spoken; bilingual Spanish preferred.
  • Experience with preparing and labeling medications; accuracy in dose calculations and record-keeping.
  • Familiarity with pharmacy computer systems and payers.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, stock and distribute medications for Pharmacist review.
  • Record prescriptions and orders for physician documentation.
  • Monitor inventory and label drugs; ensure accuracy in charges.
  • Respond to questions from patients and providers; refer inquiries appropriately.
  • Maintain clean, safe pharmacy environment and comply with regulations.
  • Process prescriptions electronically and ensure completeness of information.
  • Perform routine administrative tasks as assigned by physician or supervisor.
  • Support pharmacists in providing patient-centered pharmacy services.

Responsibilities

This is a Part Time postion

  • Supporting pharmacological services by assembling, stocking and distributing medications
  • Maintaining records by recording and filing the prescriptions and orders of Physicians
  • Sorting, stocking and labeling medications and monitoring inventory
  • Responding to the requests of patients and healthcare providers, answering their questions and referring various inquiries to the Pharmacist
  • Complying with rules, regulations and procedures to help maintain a clean and safe pharmacy, such as by sterilizing equipment and surfaces
  • Processing prescriptions electronically and ensuring all information is accurate and complete
  • Generating revenues by recording, calculating and issuing charges
  • Undertaking administrative tasks such as record-keeping as assigned by a Physician or facility manager from time to time

Supports pharmacists in the provision of pharmacy services to patients. Correctly interprets prescriptions including drug names, dosage forms, dosage strength, medical abbreviations and quantities. Has working knowledge of current CSH drug formulary and related policies. Identifies obvious errors or omissions on prescriptions. Enters prescription orders into the Pharmacy computer systems ensuring accuracy and completeness of all information. Has working knowledge of all prescription payers accepted and special programs. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: High school graduate, GED and Pharmacy Technician degree or equivalent work experience

Work Experience: Minimum of 1 year experience as a Pharmacy Technician desirable

Cognitive Skills (Language, Math, Reasoning Ability): Knowledge of drug nomenclature and pharmacy math; ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, Bi-lingual preferred (Spanish)

Computer Skills: Keyboarding skills, literacy with pharmacy computer systems, IDX preferred

Other Skills: Ability to work with professional medical staff, skill to work with several unique pharmacy programs

Certificates & Licenses: National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) preferred.

Physical Demands
Frequent standing and walking, occasional long periods of sitting, moderate bending, moderate energy requirements and fine motor skills. Looking at computer screen continuously for long periods of time, hearing within normal range. Must be able to lift 20 pounds.
