Job summary

DAP Health’s Cathedral City pharmacy seeks a dedicated Pharmacy Technician to help pharmacists fill prescriptions accurately and safely, following SOPs and maintaining patient-centered service. You will work on-site across the workflow, ensuring timely medication fulfillment and compliance with regulations.

Ideal candidates hold an active California Pharmacy Technician license, current BLS certification, 1–3 years of experience, and may pursue PTCB certification within 18 months.

Qualifications

  • Current BLS certification from a recognized provider.
  • 1–3 years of pharmacy technician experience preferred.
  • National PTCB certification preferred and must be obtained within 18 months.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to safe and effective operations of the pharmacy.
  • Follow SOPs at each workstation to support pharmacists and patient care.
  • Adhere to workflow procedures for safe prescription fulfillment.
  • Deliver empathetic patient service at pick-up, drive-thru, and over the phone; assist with immunizations and other services when allowed.
  • Perform basic inventory tasks and cycle counts, stocking and return-to-stock processing.
  • Support a high-performing team and seek opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge.
  • Comply with all applicable laws and company policies to ensure patient safety and privacy.
  • Assist with additional patient health services (immunizations, point-of-care testing) where allowed.
  • Assist immunizer activities if licensed and trained, per state requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

The Pharmacy Technician supports the pharmacists' team by ensuring that pharmacy operations run smoothly and our patients' prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately. The Technician operates as part of the pharmacy team through consistent application of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), best practices, and effective communication.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities
  • Responsible for contributing to safe and effective operations of the pharmacy
  • Live our purpose by following all company SOPs at each workstation to help our Pharmacists manage and improve patient health
  • Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each pharmacy workstation (i.e., production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment
  • Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care: creating heartfelt and personalized moments while serving patients at pick-up, drive-thru, and over the phone; keeping patients healthy by offering immunizations and other services at the register and over the phone; and demonstrating compassionate care by solving or escalating patient problems
  • Complete basic inventory management tasks, as permitted by law and directed by pharmacy leadership, including accurately stocking medication deliveries, conducting cycle counts, processing return-to-stock items, performing waiting bin inventories, and supporting other inventory control activities
  • Contribute to a high-performing team, embracing a growth mindset, and being receptive to feedback; actively seeking opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge needed to better assist patients
  • Understand and comply with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles. Comply with DAP Health policies and procedures to ensure patient safety, compliance with controlled substance dispensing and recordkeeping, and to protect patient privacy and security.
  • Deliver additional patient health care services (e.g., immunizations, point-of-care testing, and voluntarily staffing offsite clinics), where allowable by law and supported by required training and certification.
  • Where permissible, the Pharmacy Technician may also support immunizations, which includes the following responsibilities:
    • Complete additional licensure and training requirements, in compliance with state Board of Pharmacy regulations, to obtain Technician Immunizer status to support preparing and administering vaccines
    • Educate patients about the importance of vaccines and referring patients to the Pharmacist-on-duty for vaccination questions
    • Monitor for, and responding to, adverse reactions; reporting adverse reaction events per public health requirements
    • Review and collect patient information; tracking and documenting for each applicable patient
    • Monitor and manage vaccine supplies
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Bilingual in Spanish/English preferred
Education and Experience
  • Must possess an active Pharmacy Technician License with California State of Pharmacy
  • Current BLS certification obtained through the American Heart Association, American Red Cross or American Safety and Health Institute
  • 1-3 years previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician, preferred
  • Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting, preferred
  • National PTCB certification is preferred, and must obtain the certification within 18 months of employment, preferred
Working Conditions/PhysicalRequirements

This position is on-site at a DAP Health pharmacy location

Available for all shifts and, when required, able to work evenings and weekends

This job operates in a pharmacy setting and requires frequent times of sitting, standing, repetitive motion and talking

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is also frequently required: to talk and hear, use hands and fingers, handle, or operate objects, tools, or controls, and to reach with hands and arms

Remain flexible for both scheduling and business needs, while contributing to a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic; voluntarily traveling to stores to work shifts as needed by the business as well as helping anywhere in the store

Occasional travel between DAP Health locations may be required to support staffing coverage, training, meetings, and other business needs. DAP Health will make reasonable efforts to provide advance notice of travel requirements whenever operationally feasible.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
